St. Clair West Services for Seniors (SCWSS) held an Open House and Annual General Meeting on November 23, 2011 from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Over 90 guests and members attended the event.
On arrival, attendees viewed displays, connected with others, and enjoyed wine, cheese and tasty appetizers. At 5:00 PM, guests, members, students and staff convened in our new ground floor Community Room. Sujata Ganguli, Executive Director, and Nico Cassidy, Manager of Community Development, delivered a presentation focused on three areas: our Agency Aims, featuring a pilot project co-developed with Toronto Emergency Medical Services (EMS); the 'Change to Choice' in our Meals on Wheels department, highlighting our move to expanded menu selection for clients; and Eglinton Hill Centre, demonstrating how new funding has facilitated capacity building, volunteerism and program development.
Afterward, Guest Speaker, Les Sinclair, who is a caregiver, Agency service recipient, volunteer and United Way Toronto Speaker's Bureau presenter, spoke powerfully and poignantly about the way SCWSS has impacted his life. Many a person shed a tear on hearing Les share his story.
