Confidentiality Policy for Employees & Volunteers

Employees and volunteers in the organization must be committed to maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of clients, residents and other staff and their associated personal and personal health information.

Breaches of privacy place St. Clair West Services for Seniors at risk.

All clients/volunteers/staff have the right to have all their personal information at St. Clair West Services for Seniors protected. Each program must support the client's/volunteer's/staff's right to privacy. 

 A condition of employment and volunteer status in St. Clair West Services for Seniors is that all employees and volunteers sign a confidentiality agreement.  This agreement will be placed in the employee's/volunteer's file. 

 Failure to keep the personal information of clients, volunteers and staff confidential and private may lead to disciplinary action, which may include termination of employment or volunteer status.

 Accessing personal information without authorization to do so and without a need-to-know (e.g. accessing someone's computer files) is a breach of confidentiality.
